Who We Are

This site is produced by Digital Signet, an independent digital publishing company that operates consumer reference websites across health, finance, and education topics. We do not employ orthodontists or dentists, and our content is not medically reviewed by practising clinicians. This is a cost guide, not clinical advice.

We built this site because the top-ranking content for "how much do braces cost" is overwhelmingly produced by orthodontist practices with a financial interest in conversion - either to their own practice or to their CareCredit affiliate link. We are not a practice. We do not want the appointment. That independence is the editorial premise.

How We Research Prices

Start with the thing most cost pages will not tell you: there is no public US orthodontic fee survey. The American Association of Orthodontists runs a biennial Economics of Orthodontics and Patient Census Survey, but it is a members' publication and its fee tables are not released publicly. The AAO's own announcement of the 2025 edition, dated 9 July 2025, reports that most members raised their fees and gives no figures. Nobody publishes an authoritative national price list for braces, so anyone showing you one built it themselves.

We built ours the same way, and these are the inputs:

• 1.A sample of practice fee pages: publicly listed fees from orthodontic practices across each region, which is the only place real US treatment prices get published at all. We do not name individual practices or present any one practice's fee as a market rate.
• 2.Published consumer cost comparisons such as the ConsumerAffairs average cost of braces comparison, used to sanity-check our spread against other published ranges. These are secondary, and we treat them as a cross-check rather than as the source of a number.
• 3.Primary documents for everything that is not a market price: IRS publications and revenue procedures for FSA and HSA limits, NHS England's published dental charge bands on the UK page, state Medicaid and CHIP policy, CDT procedure codes, FDA device guidance, lender rate disclosures, and company filings or regulator announcements for corporate events. Where a figure comes from one of these, the page names the document and the date we checked it.

So read the two layers differently. A statutory or published figure on this site should be traceable to a named document, and where it is not, that is a defect worth telling us about. A dollar range for treatment is our estimate of a market nobody publishes, and your own quote is the only number that binds anyone.

Pricing Accuracy

All prices are US dollar averages or ranges for 2026. Individual quotes vary based on case complexity, practice location, orthodontist experience, and local market conditions. Our ranges represent the typical national spread; your specific quote may be above or below the ranges shown.

We do not publish minimum or maximum prices. Prices below the low end of our ranges are typically associated with quality or supervision compromises. Prices above the high end of our ranges exist in premium metro markets.

Update Cadence

The pricing ranges on this site were last rebuilt in April 2026. Individual pages are reviewed on a rolling basis rather than on a fixed quarterly cycle, and a page that has been re-checked says so with the date and the document it was checked against. The two things that trigger an out-of-cycle update are a statutory change (an IRS limit, an NHS charge band, a state Medicaid rule) and a market event that invalidates something we have published, such as the SmileDirectClub shutdown in December 2023 or Dentsply Sirona closing Byte to new patients in January 2025. This site currently carries no affiliate or sponsored links. Our outbound links point to primary sources: dental school clinics, state Medicaid programs, the IRS, and orthodontic reference material. If we add affiliate links in future (for example to dental insurance marketplaces or patient-financing providers), they will be clearly disclosed and will never influence our editorial content or the prices we publish. We do not favour or recommend products based on commission.

We do not have any affiliate relationship with an orthodontist practice, dental school, or orthodontic appliance manufacturer.

Corrections Policy

If you identify a factual error in our pricing data or content, please contact us at the Digital Signet website. Factual corrections are addressed within 7 days. We correct the page itself and move its review date rather than leaving a note beside the old claim, because a correction that restates the error keeps the error in circulation. We welcome corrections and take accuracy seriously.

Questions, as opposed to corrections, go to questions@howmuchforbraces.com, where a person reads them. Where a question shows that a page failed to explain a cost clearly, the answer is written back into that page with its source named. Clinical questions are outside what this site will answer and belong with a qualified orthodontist.
